The session will examine the factors contributing to food refusal and restrictive eating behaviours, alongside the importance of improving the nutritional quality of foods consumed by neurodivergent children. Drawing on the latest evidence and real-life case examples, speakers will share practical approaches to supporting children and families to improve feeding experiences and achieve more nutritionally balanced diets across home, education and care settings.

This hour-long session with presentations from experts in the field: Lucy Upton, RD and Lucy Bates, RT will cover:
- Diet and nutrition concerns and challenges in this population including food avoidance and restriction
- Explore the reasons that healthy eating may be difficult
- Solutions and strategies to help overcome the challenges & difficulties to improve neurodivergent children’s dietary intake and wider family experience
- Real life examples of how dietary intake has been improved.

Registered Dietitian and leading UK Paediatric Dietitian and Feeding Specialist with over 16 years of clinical experience supporting children and their families with a wide range of nutritional and feeding needs.
Lucy Bates
Occupational Therapist, Clinical Director and Lead Feeding Therapist at the Feeding Trust. Lucy has over 15 years of experience specialising in Paediatrics and Neurology.
